Both tools live on a class’s detail page and work off today’s already-recorded attendance.
Recitation (random/A-Z caller)
Tap Recitation (disabled until at least one student is marked Present today — the subtitle tells you “Mark attendance first” if so).
- Random mode — shuffles present students into a random call order (a “shuffle bag”: each student is called once before anyone repeats).
- A → Z mode — calls present students alphabetically.
- When A→Z is active, an M/F toggle appears to group by sex (all males first, then females, each alphabetically).
- The picker shows one large name at a time with progress (“X / Y called”), plus a note when it wraps back to the start (“reshuffled”).
- Tap Pick again / Next → to advance.
How often the “who’s been called” tracking resets is controlled by Recitation reset cycle in Settings (Per Period / Per Day / Per Week) — see Settings.
Group Maker
Tap Group Maker (disabled if the class has no students).
Options:
- Scope — “Entire class” or “Present only” (today’s present students).
- Mode — “Pure Random” or “Distributed” (tries to balance sexes across groups when sex data is available).
- Group count — use − / + to set how many groups, or tap Pairs to auto-set groups of two.
Tap Reshuffle to regenerate at any time (brief shuffle animation), and Export CSV to download the group assignments as a spreadsheet.
If the scope you picked has no eligible students, you’ll see “No students available in this scope.”
