Signing up
Go to the Sign up tab on the auth page (/auth?tab=signup).
Fields:
- Your name — e.g. “Maria Santos”
- Password — minimum 8 characters
- Timezone — pick your local timezone from the dropdown (Asia/Manila, America/New_York, UTC, etc.). This controls what “today” means for attendance dates and the End-of-Day check.
Tap Create account. You’ll see:
“Check your email for a verification link. The link expires in 24 hours.”
Click the link in the email within 24 hours, or the token expires and you’ll need to sign up again to get a new one. You cannot log in until your email is verified.
Every new account starts on a 30-day free trial with full access (see Account, Trial & Billing).
Logging in
Go to the Login tab (/auth?tab=login, or just /auth).
- Enter Email and Password.
- Tap the eye icon to reveal/hide your password.
- Tap Sign in.
If you enter the wrong password 5 times from the same network, you’ll be locked out for 15 minutes — this is a security measure, not a bug. Wait and try again, or use Forgot password?.
Forgot your password
Tap Forgot password? on the login tab, enter your email, and a reset link is sent (expires in 24 hours, like the verification link). Following the link lets you set a new password.
Installing as an app (PWA)
Once logged in, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen:
- Android/desktop Chrome: “Install for offline use” with an Install button — tap it to add MarkIT to your home screen/app list.
- iOS Safari: “Tap Share then Add to Home Screen to install the app” — iOS doesn’t allow one-tap install, so you do it manually through the browser’s Share sheet.
Tap the X on the banner to dismiss it — it won’t reappear for 30 days. Once installed, the banner never shows again.
Installing lets the app work fully offline for attendance-taking (see Offline Mode & Sync).
Student / parent access (no account needed)
The Student tab on the auth page is for students or parents checking attendance — no signup required. See Student Attendance Portal for the full flow; you as the teacher generate their 6-character code from the student’s profile in the Registrar.
Logging out
Tap the lock icon (top right of the Classes screen) to log out immediately.
